Things to Do in Singapore
Shopping
Singapore is famous worldwide for its shopping, both because it is a transit point for large numbers of people and huge volumes of cargo, and because there are many tax-free deals in place to make purchasing anything in this small country more attractive. It is highly suggested that the shopper compare items’ prices from store to store before buying them, since they can differ significantly from store and sales are usually final, so it is difficult (if not impossible) to return an item if you find it cheaper somewhere else later.
Foot Massage
Foot massage, or reflexology, is a big part of Singapore’s culture and is used to improve bodily functions of all kinds. More than 200 reflexology centers can be found in Singapore, so it isn’t hard to find someone who will rub your feet day or night. Other spa treatments are readily available at many of Singapore’s hotels and resorts.
Dining
There are so many different kinds of cuisine from various cultures in Singapore that eating can be considered an activity category in and of itself. There may well be something that caters to literally every taste bud in the world in this country. Some dishes share a name but are interpreted entirely differently according to the cultural background of the person who prepares it. The adventurous eater will be in heaven, and the more conservative one won’t go hungry. Don’t forget to try the ice cream – there are some special flavors of this only available in Singapore.
Water Sports
Singapore can cater to your diving, windsurfing, canoeing, or sailing desires at practically any time of year, weather conditions permitting.
Horse Races
Because it was a British colony, horse races became a staple of life in Singapore. The Singapore Turf Club in Kranji has its own World Cup race and is worth a visit.
Cycling
Bicycling is popular among the Singaporeans, as their country has many excellent trails, some designed with cycling in mind specifically. There is even an off-road mountain bike track.
Golf
There is a giant selection of public and private golf courses in Singapore, and the country hosts international golf tournaments. Many hotels offer golf packages, and night golfing is even offered in some places. If you find that the courses in Singapore are not enough, ferries are offered to golfing spots in nearby Indonesia and Malaysia as well.
